Manage inventory warehouses and trucks

Purpose and common uses​

Warehouses are fixed inventory locations. Trucks are mobile locations assigned to a home warehouse and one or more technicians. Configure locations before receiving, reserving, or moving stock.

Before you begin​

Have the warehouse address, manager, business unit, inventory policy, truck identifiers, and technician assignments ready. At least one warehouse is required before a truck can be created.

  1. Click Inventory, then Warehouses.
  2. Click Add Warehouse.
  3. Enter Warehouse Name and Warehouse Type.
  4. Select a Template when applicable.
  5. Choose Contact Manager and Default Business Unit.
  6. Complete the address.
  7. Review Allow Negative Inventory, Track Granular Weighted Avg Cost, and Active.
  8. Click Create Warehouse.

Each warehouse card shows the location details and how many trucks are assigned.

Create and assign a truck​

  1. Click Trucks & Mobile.
  2. Click Add Truck.
  3. Enter Identifier and optional Nickname.
  4. Select the home Warehouse and Inventory Template.
  5. Select the Lead Technician.
  6. Under Secondary Technicians, choose a technician and click Add for each helper.
  7. Set Active.
  8. Click Save Truck.
  9. Review the truck card for warehouse, technicians, and on-hand inventory.
  10. Use Restock to move appropriate stock from the warehouse to the truck.

A truck's warehouse controls its home inventory relationship and restocking source.

What happens next​

Warehouses and active trucks appear as location choices for replenishment, manual adjustments, allocations, and purchase-order receiving.

Troubleshooting​

Add Truck is disabled​

Create an active warehouse first.

A technician is missing​

Confirm the technician is active in Settings and not already selected as the lead or a helper on the same truck.

Receiving cannot use a warehouse or truck​

Confirm the location is active. For a truck, verify it has a warehouse assignment.
