Create a campaign for job attribution

Campaigns help your team record which source generated each customer request. Selecting a campaign on every new job makes revenue and performance reporting more useful.

Before you begin

Choose a naming pattern your team can use consistently. A useful campaign name usually identifies the channel, offer, location, or time period, such as “Google Search — Cooling — Summer.”

Have the source, budget, and any reporting tags ready when they apply.

Open Campaigns

Go to Settings → Core Data → Campaigns.

Use Search campaigns… to find a campaign by name, type, status, or tag. The table shows each campaign's active state, budget, tags, and last update.

Create a campaign

  1. Click New.
  2. Enter the required Name.
  3. Choose the Type:
    • marketing;
    • sms;
    • email;
    • voicemail; or
    • multi-channel.
  4. Choose the Status: draft, active, paused, or completed.
  5. Enter the Source, such as referral, direct mail, search, or social.
  6. Enter the Budget when you want to compare spend with the work generated.
  7. Enter Tags separated by commas.
  8. Add a Description that helps the team understand when to choose this campaign.
  9. Click Create.

The new campaign appears in the Campaigns table.

Select the campaign on a new job

  1. Click New Job in the main navigation.
  2. Select the customer and service location.
  3. Choose the Business Unit and Job Type.
  4. Open Marketing Campaign.
  5. Select the campaign that generated the request.
  6. Finish the schedule and click Book Job, Save as Lead, or Create Estimate.

The New Job workspace with Marketing Campaign in the Job Details section.

Choose the campaign in Job Details before booking the job or saving it as a lead.

Choose the campaign that directly led to the request. For example, select the referral campaign for a referred customer even if they later visited your website.

Keep campaign reporting clean

  • Use the same spelling and naming pattern across related campaigns.
  • Use tags for consistent groupings such as region, service line, or channel.
  • Use Source for the broader origin and Name for the specific campaign.
  • Use Budget only for the spend connected to that campaign.
  • Search for an existing campaign before creating a similar one.

Troubleshooting

Create is unavailable

Enter a Name. The campaign cannot be created without one.

The expected campaign does not appear on New Job

Return to Settings → Core Data → Campaigns and search for it. Confirm the name and status, then refresh New Job and check Marketing Campaign again.

Reporting is split across similar campaign names

Choose one campaign for new work and use the same naming pattern for future campaigns. Avoid creating another campaign for spelling, punctuation, or capitalization changes.
