Create an estimate from a job
Create an estimate when the customer needs to review the scope and price before the work is approved.
Last verified July 22, 2026 · Nexus web app
Before you begin
Open the job you want the estimate connected to. Have a clear estimate name and a short description of the proposed work ready.
Start from an existing job
- Click Jobs.
- Search or filter for the job.
- Click the Job ID to open the job workspace.
- In Quick Actions, click Create Estimate.
You can also open the three-dot menu in the job header and select Create Estimate.

Enter a name for the estimate. Add a summary when the customer request or proposed work needs more context.
Choose how the estimate should start
If your company has saved estimate templates, Nexus asks how you want to begin:
- Select Use Template to start with saved options and line items. Search for a template, expand it to review its options, then click Select.
- Select Create From Scratch to begin with a blank estimate.
When no saved templates are available, Nexus opens the blank-estimate form automatically.
Create an estimate from scratch
- Enter an Estimate Name that makes the proposed work easy to recognize.
- Enter a Summary (Optional) to describe the work, customer request, or important conditions.
- Click Create Estimate.
The estimate name is required. The summary can be updated after the estimate is created.
Start an estimate while entering a new request
You can create an estimate before booking a job:
- Click New Job in the main navigation.
- Select or create the customer and service location.
- Complete the required work details.
- In the right-hand Actions panel, click Create Estimate.
Use this option when the request should move to pricing instead of directly to the schedule.
What happens next
Nexus opens the new estimate. Review the customer, service location, options, line items, pricing, and summary before sending it to the customer.
The estimate also appears on the job's Estimates tab.
