Create an invoice from a job
Last updated July 23, 2026
Create an invoice when billable work is ready for review. Starting from the job keeps the invoice connected to the customer, service location, and work history.
Common uses
- Bill completed work from the correct job record.
- Review project billing or an existing connected invoice before sending.
Before you begin
Confirm the work, billable items, approved estimate, and customer information. Review time entries and splits when they affect your company’s job review process.
Open the job and create the invoice
- Open Operations → Jobs.
- Select the job’s Job ID.
- Use Create Invoice in the header or Quick Actions.
- Wait for the invoice page to open before selecting the action again.
Both Create Invoice actions start billing for the same job.
For some project work, the action is labeled Project Billing. Use that choice to continue through the connected project phase.
Review the invoice
- Confirm the customer and service address.
- Review billable items, quantities, prices, discounts, and tax.
- Confirm the total and any amount already paid.
- Add customer-facing notes or terms.
- Check the delivery contact before sending.
- Return to the job’s Invoices tab when you need to verify the connection.
Review the entire invoice before sending it to the customer.
What happens next
The invoice remains connected to the job and customer. Your billing team can send it, record payment, and manage later billing activity from the invoice.
Troubleshooting
Create Invoice is missing
Confirm your role allows invoice creation and the job finished loading. Project work may show Project Billing instead.
The invoice page does not open
Confirm the job has a customer and service location, then try again once. If an invoice already exists, open it from the job’s Invoices tab.
The invoice has unexpected items
Do not send it. Review the job’s approved work and edit the invoice until its line items and totals are correct.
