Apply a template to an estimate
Last updated July 23, 2026
Purpose and common uses
Templates speed up common proposals by copying a prepared set of options and line items into an estimate. You can also reuse an existing estimate as a saved template or as a one-time starting point.
Before you begin
Build and save the template under Pricebook → Templates. Review its option names, prices, cover photo, and active Pricebook items.
Open a saved template
- Begin creating an estimate from a job or new customer request.
- Choose Use Template.
- Search the saved templates.
- Expand the template to review its options.
- Select the intended template or option.
- Continue creating the estimate.
- Review every copied line item and total.
Expand a template before selecting it so you know which options and items will be copied.
Reuse an existing estimate
- Open Estimates and select the estimate.
- Open the three-dot action menu.
- Click Use as template.
- Choose Create new template from this estimate to save it in the template library, or Use as temporary template for a one-time reuse.
- For a saved template, enter the template name and complete the save.
- For temporary reuse, search and select the customer, choose the service location, then select an active job or click Skip.
- If you skip the job, select Business Unit, Job Type, and Marketing Campaign.
- Create the new estimate and review the copied details.
A temporary template copies the estimate without adding it to the shared template library.
What happens next
The new estimate is independent of its source. Edit the name, summary, items, prices, tax, and cover photo without changing the saved template or original estimate.
Troubleshooting
A template does not appear
Return to Pricebook → Templates, save the template, and verify its items are active. Then reopen the selector.
Temporary reuse cannot continue
Select a customer and location. If no active job is available, click Skip and complete the required Business Unit, Job Type, and Marketing Campaign fields.
Copied prices are outdated
Review each line item. Replace items that should use current Pricebook values before sending.
