Build estimate templates

Last updated July 23, 2026

Purpose and common uses

Estimate templates give your team a repeatable starting point for common proposals. A template can contain multiple options, a cover photo, saved descriptions, and Pricebook line items.

Before you begin

Verify the services, assemblies, materials, equipment, discounts, and memberships you plan to include. Decide the option names and whether the template should use Dynamic or Static price behavior.

  1. Click Pricebook.
  2. Click Templates.
  3. Review the saved template library.
  4. Click Create Template.

Open an existing template from the library or start a new one.

Build the template

  1. Enter the template name and internal description.
  2. Choose an Option naming preset or name each option yourself.
  3. Select Dynamic or Static under Price behavior.
  4. Click the add-option control to create the number of choices customers should see.
  5. Select an option, then add its services, assemblies, materials, equipment, discounts or fees, and memberships.
  6. Review quantity, cost, price, tax, and whether materials or equipment should display.
  7. Add or edit the cover photo.
  8. Review the totals panel for every option.
  9. Click Save Template.

Review each option independently; customers compare the scope and total shown for each choice.

Open a template's action menu to edit, duplicate, or remove it. Duplicate is useful for creating a variation without changing the original.

What happens next

When creating or editing an estimate, choose Use Template, select the template and option, then review the copied content. The estimate becomes independent, so later template changes do not rewrite it.

Troubleshooting

A Pricebook item is missing from the builder

Confirm the item is active and search in the correct section. Archived items are not available for new template selections.

Totals differ between options

Review each option's quantity, price behavior, discounts, tax flags, and included items. Static options keep the saved price; dynamic options can reflect item pricing.

The template does not appear while creating an estimate

Save the template, return to the library, and confirm it is available. Reopen the estimate's template selector.
