Use the dispatch board

Last updated July 23, 2026

The Dispatch Board shows technician timelines and unassigned jobs for the selected date. Use it to understand daily workload, open appointment details, and move work to the right person and time.

Common uses

  • Balance a day across technician timelines.
  • Review unassigned work and open appointment details without leaving Dispatch.

Before you begin

Keep staff shifts, appointment dates, expected durations, and business-unit assignments current. You need access to Dispatch and the jobs you manage.

Open the Board

  1. Open Operations → Dispatch.
  2. Select Board.
  3. Use the date controls to choose the day.
  4. Select a business unit when you need to focus on one team.
  5. Enter a value in Search jobs... or use the status filter.

Technicians appear in rows, time runs across the board, and work needing assignment appears below.

Review scheduled work

  1. Find the technician’s row.
  2. Read each card’s customer, location, job type, time, and status.
  3. Select a job card to open its detail panel.
  4. Use the available tabs and actions to review appointment, customer, invoice, or job history information.
  5. Close the panel to return to the board.

Review Unassigned Jobs

The Unassigned Jobs panel shows a Needs Assignment count and the message Drag jobs to assign them to technicians. Select a card to review it, or follow Assign and route work to place it.

When no work needs placement, the panel confirms that all jobs are assigned.

Switch dispatch views

  • Board is best for time placement and daily balance.
  • List is best for technician columns across a day, week, or month.
  • Map is best for locations, routes, and technician movement.

What happens next

Opening or filtering the board does not change a job. Assignment, time, appointment, or status changes update the connected job and the other dispatch views.

Troubleshooting

The board looks empty

Return to today’s date, clear search and status choices, and select all business units. Confirm staff have shifts and jobs have appointments on the chosen date.

A technician is missing

Check that the technician is active, dispatchable, assigned to the selected business unit, and scheduled for a shift.

A job is not under Unassigned Jobs

Clear filters and confirm the job has an appointment on the selected date and is not already assigned.
