Reassign technicians
Last updated July 23, 2026
Reassign an appointment when a different technician or crew will perform the visit. Assignment is managed per appointment, so other visits on the job can keep their existing technicians.
Common uses
- Replace an unavailable technician.
- Add or remove crew members for one scheduled visit.
Before you begin
Confirm the appointment date and the technician or crew who should receive the work. Check Shifts when availability is uncertain.
Open the appointment
- Open Operations → Jobs.
- Select the job’s Job ID.
- Scroll to Scheduling & Appointments.
- Find the intended appointment.
- Select its pencil to open Edit Appointment.
Assignments belong to the selected visit, not automatically to every appointment on the job.
Change the assignment
- Find Assign Technicians.
- Clear each technician who should no longer be assigned.
- Select each technician who should complete the visit.
- Review the appointment date, times, and duration for conflicts.
- Select Save Changes.
- Confirm the new names on the appointment card.
Select every team member who should be part of the visit before saving.
You can also move work from one technician to another in Dispatch when balancing the day.
What happens next
The new assignment appears on the job and on dispatch views for that appointment date. The appointment retains its customer, location, schedule, status, and instructions.
Troubleshooting
A technician is not listed
Confirm the person is active, dispatchable, and connected to the job’s business unit. Ask a manager to review staff setup if needed.
Save Changes is unavailable
Review all required appointment fields and confirm at least one valid assignment when your company requires one.
The old technician still appears
Reopen Edit Appointment, clear the old selection, select the new technician, and save again. Confirm you edited the intended visit.
