Manage Pricebook discounts and fees

Last updated July 23, 2026

Purpose and common uses

Saved discounts and fees let staff apply approved pricing adjustments without retyping them. Create separate records for each policy, promotion, surcharge, or service fee.

Before you begin

Decide whether the adjustment is a Discount or Fee, whether it uses a percentage or fixed amount, its code and description, any maximum, and whether tax applies to a fee.

  1. Click Pricebook.
  2. Click Discounts & Fees.
  3. Search for an existing record with the same purpose.

Use distinct names so staff can choose the correct adjustment while building a document.

Create a discount or fee

  1. Click the add control.
  2. Under Select type, choose Discount or Fee.
  3. Enter the code, name, and customer-facing description.
  4. For a discount, choose Percentage or Fixed, then enter the amount.
  5. Add a maximum discount amount or percentage when the promotion has a limit.
  6. For a fee, choose Percentage or Fixed, enter the amount, and set whether tax is charged on the fee.
  7. Set the record to active.
  8. Save the adjustment.

Check the adjustment type and sign before using it on customer documents.

Edit a record when the policy itself changes. Create a new record instead when historical documents must continue to refer to the old promotion.

What happens next

Active records appear under Add Item → Discount / Fee on estimates and under Discount/Fee on invoices. Staff can still review the amount before sending.

Troubleshooting

A discount increases the total

Confirm the Pricebook record type is Discount, not Fee, and review the line-item amount.

A percentage is applied to the wrong amount

Review which line items are present and the saved limit. If the policy requires a special calculation, use a fixed adjustment approved by your company.

Tax is incorrect after adding a fee

Open the fee and review its tax setting, then confirm the document tax rate.
