Create and maintain Pricebook services

Last updated July 23, 2026

Purpose and common uses

Services represent the work you sell. A well-configured service gives office and field teams a consistent description, duration, price, material behavior, tax setting, and category.

Before you begin

Create the applicable categories, and gather the service code, customer-facing description, expected labor time, standard price, member price, and included materials.

  1. Click Pricebook.
  2. Click Services.
  3. Search existing services by name or code before creating a duplicate.

Search and filter before adding a service so the catalog stays clean.

Create a service

  1. Click Actions, then Add Service.
  2. Enter the service name, code, and description.
  3. Choose its categories and active status.
  4. Enter the estimated duration and standard price.
  5. Complete any member pricing, cost, commission, or account fields your company uses.
  6. Set whether the service is taxable.
  7. Add included materials or equipment when the service should carry a defined scope.
  8. Choose whether to Charge for Materials when included materials should also appear as billable charges.
  9. Review any dynamic-pricing choices and save.

Review the customer-facing description and price behavior before saving the service.

Maintain several services

  1. Select the services in the table.
  2. Open the bulk-actions control.
  3. Choose Adjust Pricing, Update GL Accounts, Assign Categories, Enable Dynamic Pricing, Charge for Materials, Enable Taxable, or Disable Taxable.
  4. Review the scope of the update and apply it.

Use a row's action menu to View/Edit Service, Duplicate, Archive, or Restore. Duplicate is useful when a new service shares most details but needs a different scope or price.

What happens next

Active services appear under Add Item → Service on estimates and invoices. Changes affect future selections; review existing documents separately.

Troubleshooting

A service is missing from Add Item

Set All Statuses to Archived and restore the service if needed. Confirm you are searching under the Service item type.

The service total is not what you expected

Check standard and member prices, dynamic-pricing settings, quantity, included items, and whether Charge for Materials is enabled.

Tax is not calculated

Verify the service is marked taxable and that the estimate or invoice has a tax rate.
